“Successful and unsuccessful people do not vary greatly in their abilities. They vary in their desires to reach their potential.” – John Maxwell

Good day!

I hope all of my students and their families are managing well during this huge transition in life-if nothing else I hope that you are finding the needed resources to make things easier if you have been greatly impacted in some way. Email me, if needed for a list of resources our counselors have provided.

This week we are moving on to standard (MGSE6.NS.6b) which relates to Signs Of Numbers In Ordered Pairs. Here are the kid friendly “I can” statements so students know what they should be able to do.

  • I can recognize the signs of both numbers in an ordered pair indicate which quadrant of the coordinate plane the ordered pair will be located.

  • I can reason that when only the x value in a set of ordered pairs are opposites, it creates a reflection over the y axis [e.g., (x, y) and (–x, y)].

  • I can recognize that when only the y value in a set of ordered pairs are opposites, it creates a reflection over the x axis [e.g., (x, y) and (x, –y)].

  • I can reason that when two ordered pairs differ only by signs, the locations of the points are related by reflections across both axes [e.g., (x, y) and (–x, –y)].

The videos listed below will help in learning the tasks-I will also place them under the "Extra Unit Materials" tab for Unit 7 so you can find them again later. I will also be adding a PPT AND some visual helps for identifying quadrants under the “Extra Unit Materials” tab-see Unit 7. They will be there by 5pm, today. You should get a notification of an update.

While I have set it where students have an unlimited number of opportunities to improve their scores on USA Testprep (when it allows me), if you aren’t understanding a question after viewing and reviewing the provided videos, please email me or sign on for face to face help. I am here for YOU.
