Week of Aug 18- Aug 23, 2019

Good evening,

As a reminder (this is new information for those just joining our class) there will not be "graded" homework every night, but please ask to see what was done in class, because they should always re-do some problems if they say they have nothing to do. Vocabulary (knowing the words, definitions and examples they find from the internet) should be practiced at least 3 times a week for memory purposes. We will inform when there is graded homework, but not always email about the ungraded work.  Each night should be a review of the day's practice if there is no graded work due.

Monday: Long division word problems and understanding what to do with remainders within the problem

-We completed two in class today and they were told to finish the last three at home.  It is not for a grade, but we will discuss the answers in class, so they should be prepared to join the discussion by completing the work.

***The USA testprep online assignment due date (originally today) has been extended until Wednesday because of the schedule adjustments. Students who completed it on time will receive extra points***

Tuesday: Long division word problems with decimals in the divisor and in the dividend.

-GRADED HOMEWORK on problem solving with all types of division (decimals and without) coming home. It will be due FRIDAY Aug 23.

Wednesday: More decimal division practice in class first half. QUIZ on all four decimal operations and long division word problems.

Thursday: Least common multiple (LCM) and greatest common factor (GCF) notes and class practice.

Friday: Least common multiple (LCM) and greatest common factor (GCF) word problems.

-If you can't access Parentvue to check grades, please be sure to call the front office as they assist with getting that set up. Grades will not be entered until the end of the week once we are sure the schedules are set. It is hard to transfer grades if they change classes.

Thank you so much for all the support we have been receiving so far. "Our" kids can't help but grow when we work together!

~Expecting a great year~
